Die Route
A compact loop around the Brocken, Germany's northernmost high mountain. East to the rock gorge of the Bodetal at Thale, across the high plateau to Braunlage, up to Torfhaus with its Brocken view, then down past the Oker reservoir to Bad Harzburg and back along the northern edge.
Funktioniert mit Garmin, TomTom, BMW Navigator, Calimoto, Kurviger, komoot, MyRouteApp. Als Track importieren, um exakt unserer Linie zu folgen. Straßendaten von OpenStreetMap (ODbL), Höhendaten von SRTM.
Track oder Route, so lädst du das in dein GPS
Was du herunterlädst, ist ein GPX Track, eine dichte, auf die Straße gesnappte Spur der exakten Linie mit Höhe an jedem Punkt. Es ist keine GPX Route (eine kurze Liste von Wegpunkten, zwischen denen dein Gerät neu plant). Tracks bewahren unsere Straßenwahl, Routen lassen das Gerät selbst entscheiden und schicken dich schnell auf eine langweilige Autobahn.
So nutzt du es auf deinem Navi:
- BMW Navigator / Garmin Zumo / zumo XT: als Track importieren, dann Convert to Route (oder Trip Planner, neue Tour aus dem Track), wenn du Abbiegehinweise willst. Recalculation ausgeschaltet lassen, damit es auf unserer Linie bleibt.
- TomTom Rider: GPX in MyDrive importieren, es lädt als Track oder Reiseroute. Follow the exact route aktivieren, damit nicht neu geplant wird.
- Calimoto: GPX öffnen und Import as tour wählen, Calimoto folgt der Tracklinie.
- Kurviger / komoot / MyRouteApp: GPX öffnen und Import as track wählen, um die Straßenwahl zu behalten. Import as route nur, wenn die App für dein Motorradprofil neu planen soll.
- Google Maps / Apple Maps: lesen kein GPX. Nutze die Karte auf dieser Seite oder importiere die Datei zuerst in eine GPX fähige App.

Our track is 126 km with about 1,370 m of climbing, roughly 3 to 4 hours of riding without stops. Harz tourism publishes its own motorcycle tours of about 160 to 247 km, ours is a shorter day loop.
Why ride it
Endless forest curves, the half-timbered towns of Wernigerode and Blankenburg, the Bodetal gorge, and the two meeting points Harz tourism itself names for riders: Torfhaus and the Oker reservoir.
Hazards
Busy weekends with lots of bikes and day trippers, deer and wild boar at dawn and dusk, wet leaves and damp shaded forest corners, and speed cameras in the towns.
