How was this place not already listed? One of the most famous stops for bikers in the UK, and with good reason. It's not cheap and some of the rooms are basic but it's clean and comfortable and amidst loads of great roads. The food (dinner and breakfast) is delicious and they're happy to make you a pack up for lunch. Dave the current owner is a rider himself and goes to the trouble of personally welcoming you as you arrive, and later will not only suggest routes if you don't already have a plan, but will even upload them onto your SatNav! He's a legend. Note. Dave recently announced in the motorcycle press that he is planning to sell up and retire but wants to ensure his legacy is honoured and so is holding out for the right buyers who will continue with the excellent service that the Buccleuch Arms provides.

Amazing hotel based on a refurbished monastery with a friendly receptionist who invited us to park our bikes in the underground garage. Rooms are superbly appointed - absolute luxury. Restaurant would get six stars for both breakfast and dinner if I could. Whilst superbly renovated, they've managed to keep the character of the monastery. And all surrounded by awesome roads.

It's a basic, but lovely B&B guest house with garage parking for bikes and great value. We got a lovely warm welcome, the owner was watching for us and came down to open the garage and usher us in. Different host for breakfast but just as lovely. Rooms with a view of the citadel, and close enough for an easy walk up into the citadel for dinner.

Pleasant budget hotel near the centre of Porto with garage parking and friendly, helpful staff. No restaurant on site but many close by, and a lovely cafe just across the road for breakfast. Not luxurious but clean and well maintained. Good value.

Lovely hotel with a good restaurant close to centre of town. Friendly, helpful staff. When my SatNav went daft and needed a factory reset, the receptionist enabled exclusive WiFi for me to software updates and maps. I was there during the Iberian Power Cut in April '25 yet somehow the restaurant managed to provide a delicious meal.

Budget stop on the way from Porto back to the ferry at Santander. Secure garage parking, accessed via a steep ramp, but not problem for a competent rider. Breakfast was satisfactory but not special. Decent restaurant a fifteen minute walk into town.
