Rider experience

Modern hotel - used as an overnight stop. Travelling on motorbikes secure parking is very important to us. We were able to book the hotel garage parking on-site for a fee, you access the garage via an electronic door at street level (note, there is a steep spiral ramp with a camber to access). Lift from the garage to reception and the rooms. Small comfortable room with air conditioning. Breakfast options were good with hot and cold selections and good coffee. Supermarkets and shops etc very close by. Great Bakery approx 25metres from the hotel. Would recommend.

This is an excellent, reliable pit stop if you are making a long run across northern Portugal or mapping out a multi-day sweep through the Montesinho mountains. The big logistical victory here is the underground garage setup right beneath the hotel. It keeps your machine completely locked out of sight and protected from the weather, giving you total peace of mind overnight. Because the reception and bar operate 24/7, rolling in exhausted after an eight-hour stint in the saddle isn't an issue at all—you can dump your luggage, grab a cold beer instantly, and unwind. On top of that, they start serving the breakfast buffet at 6:00 AM, which is a massive plus if you want to load up on coffee and tackle the twisty asphalt loops before the summer heat really kicks in.

Things to know

The concrete ramp leading down into the private underground parking garage is quite steep and cuts at a sharp angle, so take it easy and watch your footing if you are piloting a heavy, fully loaded adventure bike or a low cruiser. The secure parking area also costs an extra €10 per night, though the security is well worth the coin. Location-wise, it sits slightly outside the historic old core of the town, meaning you'll need to stretch your legs for a 10-to-15 minute uphill walk to reach the ancient citadel and castle walls when heading out for a traditional dinner.
